Dr. Boyd holds degrees in both orthodontics and periodontics from the University of Pennsylvania. He was formerly Professor and Chairman of Orthodontics at the University of California San Francisco, and is currently Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Dr. Boyd has treated many patients with combined orthodontic-periodontic needs over the years in his own orthodontic practice and has also focused his own clinical research in dealing with the orthodontic-periodontic relationship. In this area, he has published more than 100 scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts and given more than 300 continuing education courses and lectures to dental groups around the world. Dr. Boyd is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, a member of the E.H. Angle Society and has received many teaching awards.
